Your Website and its First Impression

Let’s have an open and honest conversation about your website…

Did you know that roughly 75% of people use their smartphones to visit websites?

Or that it takes 50 milliseconds for a user to form an opinion about your website and whether they will stay or leave?

And that 75% of people admit to judging a company’s credibility based on their website’s design?

So is your website helping to build your business the way you want it to?

A good website gives a business legitimacy. It is easy to understand, meets the user needs efficiently, and has an attractive design woven throughout. Ultimately, a good website grows your business.

While talking to a good friend about referrals for everything from handyman companies to her favorite local floral shop, I realized an important tidbit. Even after a referral is given, from a trusted source, most people will still look online to verify. I did. Whether they look on LinkedIn or Facebook or your website, they are judging your legitimacy based on your online presence.  This conversation and revelation piqued my curiosity, so I posed the question in one of the groups I am a part of and found that most people said they will start on social to get an initial feel for a business, but utilize a website to make a judgment on whether to connect. Connections lead to growth and are a must for any business.

As a small business owner, I am now keenly aware of the need to have an attractive, well-organized, mobile responsive website to drive those connections.  A website that communicates legitimacy, adds value and represents our brand and business. A website designed to feel inviting, with relevant imagery, and an easy to navigate experience that is consistent no matter what device visitors may be using.  And one with functionality to appease search engine algorithms and boost our SEO. It may sound like a tall order, but a site tailored to the needs of our clients is worth it in my book.
