Please prepare yourself for some real talk here. This is going to be upsetting to some people, but here it is: I am tired of hearing that “success” can be manifested.
Success and Manifestation
Looking for new clients?
Manifest them!
Trying to grow your business?
Manifest the growth.
If manifestation alone – or the power of thinking good thoughts and visualizing the results you want- worked, I’d be writing this from the comfort of my spectacular villa in the Mediterranean, eating peeled grapes and working on my tan instead of praying for the caffeine to kick in after a busy weekend of catching up with work, answering client inquiries, and endless emails while trying to maintain some semblance of a good work/life balance as a small business owner and social media manager.
The Reality Behind Manifestation
In my opinion, manifestation is a trendy way of saying goal setting, because it sounds easier and more attainable than getting down and dirty in the trenches. Attracting new clients means having a good business model and strategy in place. Financial goals require working with an accountant or business advisor, which every business needs. Seeking advice from a trusted mentor is invaluable and something everyone should have for mental and business health. Most importantly, you need lots of patience and determination because success isn’t a given, and there will be enough bad times that will have you questioning your sanity.
Is all the hard work worth it? ABSOLUTELY, and thinking about all the amazing, successful business owners I know (like Bekah), I would say the same. At the end of the day, there’s nothing like the satisfaction of a job well done—especially one that makes a difference in the lives of the clients who trust you, the people on your team, and in your life.
In the meantime, I’ll keep thinking good thoughts about my villa on the Aegean, but I know it’ll take more than positive thinking to get me there.
