Keeping Up with Industry Trends

As a team whose members all vary in expertise and experience in the field of Marketing, we understand the importance of staying ahead of the curve when it comes to keeping up with trends and changes in our industry. It’s vital for professionals to stay informed about their specific industries so that they can be competitive in the job market and capitalize on opportunities when they present themselves. Here are a few tips for staying current in your industry:  

  1. Subscribe!!! Sign up to receive relevant magazines, journals, and newsletters that provide updates from reliable sources. This may be one of the best ways to learn about the latest announcements in the industry! Simply do some online research to find the best sources of news within your industry. If you’re in the marketing field, one resource I recommend signing up for is Marketing Brew ( They send awesome, informative newsletters on weekdays!
  2.  When was the last time you attended an event? Find upcoming conferences and workshops! There are so many options today that if you don’t want to leave the house, you can find something virtual! These types of events provide invaluable insight into innovative technologies, best practices, and creative ideas. You can find free and paid online webinars using Eventbrite’s ( search feature and find many fantastic options!
  3. Networking – connect with other professionals to stay current! It is so important to build relationships, within AND outside of your industry. Any social media platform works, but LinkedIn ( has come a long way and is best used as a professional networking tool. Keep all your connections in one place, stay in touch, and make note of your interactions. Networking conversations are often full of exciting discussions about potential projects and advancements that could benefit everyone involved.
  4. Take advantage of online resources. There are many online resources available, such as podcasts, articles, and videos that can help you stay current in your industry. Give TikTok a try by searching for a hashtag that is relevant to your industry. For example, I often search #SocialMediaTips! YouTube ( has always been a powerful resource with many helpful vloggers who provide great feedback on the latest programs, resources, tips, and tricks!  

Don’t forget to challenge yourself creatively, and proactively research new tools and technologies available that could potentially improve your day-to-day work. Remember, keeping up with your industry requires focus, dedication, and effort. By leveraging informational resources, networking connections, and staying engaged with professional development activities, professionals can ensure they remain ahead of the game.
